The Bavarian city of Munich is one of the country’s favourite tourist destinations. It offers a unique combination of modern flair with traditional charm.

Munich is traditionally known for its breweries and beer halls, with men in lederhosen downing plenty of beer. Although there is plenty of fun to be had in Munich and the Bavarian region, it has lots more to offer its visitors.

Throughout the year Munich is filled with festivals of all kinds! This great city has numerous great museums, such as the Alte Pinakothek or the Deutsches Museum, theatres, art treasures, hi-tech industries and gems of Gothic and Baroque architecture. It is also the gateway to the Bavarian Alps, drawing winter sports enthusiasts from near and far.

There is also lots of fantastic shopping to be done in Munich! There are boutiques in the university area, century-old street markets, second-hand bookshops or the glamour of international haute couture in Munich's central shopping areas Maximilianstraße or Theatinerstraße.

Nightlife in this great City is buzzing, with many bars to choose from. For a great atmosphere drop by at the legendary Schumann’s Bar Am Hofgarten. Its branch at Maffeistrasse 6 is in the glitzy Funf Hofe mall. Downtown Munich is typified by the glam discos on and around Maximilianstrasse, frequented by the trendy, business crowd. For unpretentious post-midnight kicks, head for the Kunstpark Ost, or KPO, near Ostbahnhof.
