Rome is truly magnificent city situated on the River Tiber, with a warm climate and the original home of the central administration of the Roman Empire formed before 753BC. As a romantic and cultural city break it’s number one.
It goes without saying that Rome is home to the worlds most incredible monuments, cultural and historical attractions. Ancient Rome or Roma Antica includes the awesome Colosseum, Roman Forum and a huge array of temples and buildings made out of marble that simply take you back in time.
For further attractions the historic centre of Rome - the "Centro Storico" - is made up of huge piazzas such as the famous Piazza Navona outlined with churches, fountains and palaces in baroque styling. Must visit attractions are the fountains of the Four Rivers and Trevi Fountain, seen in the film ‘Evita’, and the Spanish Steps. If the sight-seeing could ever get tiring, the centre of Rome is full of stylish shopping boutiques. A trip out West will also take you to the Vatican State home of the Catholic Church and the Pope.
For socialising in the days or evening, there is an array of Italian restaurants and pizzarias amidst the many historic sites. A visit to the south of the city will take you to Trastevere where you'll trendy open air wine bars for Rome’s fashionable crowd. For an even livelier time the Testaccio district is full of live music bars, and some of Europes best night clubs.
Rome is a gem of a city and has to be seen at least once in a lifetime.
